Pamela werd benaderd door dierenrechtenorganisaties PETA en Bont voor Dieren om een statement te maken tegen bont. De blonde actrice is al lange tijd een voorvechter van dierenrechten.
In de brief laat ze o.a. weten dat er niets minder sexy is dan het dragen van bont en dat je ook een 'killing' look kan hebben zonder er werkelijk voor te hoeven moorden. Ook hoopt ze dat een volgende keer wanneer ze Nederland bezoekt, er een totaal Nederlands bontverbod is.

Dear Queen Beatrix,
I'm thrilled to visit Holland this week, not just for its charm but for its progressive outlook on two issues close to my heart - sex and animal rights. These topics overlap on the issue of fur, because there is nothing less sexy than a fur coat. I was thrilled to learn from PETA and Bont voor Dieren that Holland has banned several kinds of fur farming, and I hope you will consider enacting a ban on all types of fur farming.
The majority of Dutch citizens are opposed to wearing fur, and a ban on fur farming would be such an enormous inspiration for other countries and animal lovers around the world. I hope my presence at the Millionaire Fair will encourage people to consider that you can have a look that kills without killing, and that nobody should support the idea of gassing, strangling, or electrocuting animals- especially for a luxury item. I hope the next time I visit will be to celebrate a complete Dutch ban on fur farming.
